On January 23, from 1:00 – 3:00 PM Eastern Time, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health will hold seminar to help pesticide handlers gain a better understanding laws and relevant standards regarding personal protective equipment needed while using an enclosed cab or closed system. Federal law allows for some PPE reduction when enclosed cabs and closed systems meeting certain criteria are used. Many states also make this same allowance in their regulations. Regulations and standards, and their potential limitations with regards to best practices, and some exposure data involving enclosed cabs and closed systems will be discussed. Participants in this seminar should be prepared to share their own experiences and perspectives that may help in development of best practices.
