On October 25, ARA Director of Public Policy, Jeff Sands, traveled to St. Louis to participate in the 30th Anniversary Celebration of the Conservation Technology Information Center (CTIC). The event was held at Monsanto Headquarters and started off with a tour of the company’s research facility. As the day progressed, panels made up of many different players within the agricultural community discussed how far conservation agriculture has come in the last 30 years and where it will go over the next 30 years.
Among the participants were retired NRCS Chiefs Bill Richards and Bruce Knight accompanied by ARA Member Steve Taylor from Missouri Agribusiness Associations. The panelists discussed how weed control accompanied with no till have been paramount in the industry over the last 30 years and that a focus towards soil health and proper communication of production agriculture’s efforts will bring conservation agriculture to the forefront of consumers’ minds in the future. ARA thanks CTIC for the opportunity to participate in the anniversary celebration.
