The Agricultural Retailers Association recently hired Hunter Carpenter to serve as Director of Public Policy.
He is responsible for ARA's conservation, tax and trade, and energy issues, as well as leading government relations efforts on sustainability and precision agriculture.
Before joining ARA, Carpenter served as Manager of State Government Affairs for RISE (Responsible Industry for a Sound Environment), a national trade association representing manufacturers, formulators, distributors and other industry leaders involved with pesticides.
Previously, Carpenter worked in the office of Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour as a policy advisor and legislative liaison. He also brings political campaign experience to ARA having worked on campaigns at all levels of government and in various capacities.
A native of Columbus, Miss., Carpenter received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Mississippi in 2006. He is an avid Ole Miss sports fan and enjoys hunting and fishing.
