ARA Signed Letters to Congress with 300+ Organizations in Support of Current Pesticide Laws, Regulations

Sep 15 2020

On Sept. 15, ARA signed letters to Congress with more than 300 ag and conservation organizations in support of current pesticide laws and regulations. The letter also opposes the Protect America's Children from Toxic Pesticides Act of 2020 (H.R. 7940, S. 4406) because it misrepresents the science-based safety standards that are used to protect farmers, workers and the public.

The recently introduced legislation seeks to politicize the decision making of the registration and re-registration of pesticide products and weaken risk-based, science-based standards made by the EPA's Office of Pesticide Programs.

"We remain committed to protecting human health and the environment while maintaining America's important food, fiber, and biofuel production and protecting its public health and infrastructure," the letters state.
