ARA Requests 90-Day Comment Extension on EPA Draft Herbicide Strategy

Sep 01 2023

ARA requests a 90-day extension to the public comment period on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Draft Herbicide Strategy Framework to Reduce Exposure of Federally Listed Endangered and Threatened Species and Designated Critical Habitats from the Use of Conventional Ag Herbicides.

ARA agrees that it's important for the EPA to develop draft herbicide strategy to comply with its obligations under the Endangered Species Act as well as the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA).

However, ARA believes that proposed additional modifications need to be made to the draft strategy to ensure it is more targeted and does not cause severe disruptions to America's ag industry. Read ARA's proposed modifications in the comments linked below to learn more.

On Sept. 6, the EPA announced a 30-day extension of the public comment period.
