ARA Requests Regulatory Relief from DOT to Support Agricultural Transportation

May 05 2025

The Agricultural Retailers Association (ARA) has submitted comments to the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) emphasizing the need for regulatory relief to support the agricultural industry's transportation needs.

In a letter addressed to Daniel Cohen of the Office of the General Counsel, ARA highlighted the critical role of a robust transportation system in ensuring the prosperity and sustainability of America's agricultural industry and rural communities. ARA's comments focused on the importance of intermodal transportation systems, which integrate trucking, rail, and waterways to enhance the financial stability of agribusinesses and rural areas across the United States. The association urged Congress and the Administration to support federal policies that leverage the strengths of each mode of transportation to improve the competitiveness of the United States in the global economy.

ARA's comments were submitted as part of the DOT's request for information on regulatory review and reform, which aims to identify existing regulations, guidance, paperwork requirements, and other regulatory obligations that can be modified or repealed to ensure that DOT administrative actions do not undermine the national interest.
