ARA Co-Signs Letter to Congress on Truck-Only Vehicle Miles Tax

ARA co-signed a letter to Senator Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, and Senator Ron Wyden, D-Ore., cautioning Congress against a truck-only vehicle miles tax because it would increase truck transportation costs and lead to lower farmgate prices and reduced market share for U.S. agriculture versus foreign competitors.

Because a well-maintained, efficient and safe freight transportation system is vitally important to U.S. agriculture, ARA and other agricultural organizations urge Congress to include broad-based funding mechanisms as they advance a surface transportation reauthorization bill to ensure all who benefit from the transportation system contribute fairly to upgrading and maintaining America's roads and bridges.
