ARA Co-Signs Letter to House Committee Opposing FMCSA Speed Limiter

May 09 2023

ARA co-signed a letter to the House Committee on Transportation & Infrastructure urging lawmakers to prevent the U.S. Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) from moving forward with the speed limiter mandate that would restrict all heavy-duty commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) to a single top speed across the country -- as low as 60 miles per hour.

ARA and the undersigned organizations say this mandate would be bad for road safety, crash rates, driver retention, and supply chain performance.

The letter asks legislators to support the Deregulating Restrictions on Interstate Vehicles and Eighteen Wheelers Act because it would prevent this counterproductive rulemaking from moving forward.

LETTER

ARA previously submitted comments to the agency in opposition to their potential speed limiter rule.
