ARA Sends Comments to EPA on Water Quality Trading

Dec 19 2019

ARA sent comments to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) addressing "baseline" issues in watersheds with EPA-approved total maximum daily loads (TDMLs), where policy makers seek to pursue water quality trading as a regulatory option for National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES).

ARA members own, operate or have an interest in lands and facilities that produce or contribute to the production of food, fiber and fuel to America. The comments support policy changes that revise or revoke portions of existing guidance to increase flexibility in effectuating point-nonpoint trading and remove barriers to offering more nutrient management practices.

Read the comments to learn more about the other recommendations from ARA on water quality trading under the NPDES.
