ARA Co-Signs DRIVE Safe Coalition Comments on New Pilot Program

ARA and the undersigned organizations representing the DRIVE Safe Coalition sent comments to the U.S. Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) to express strong support for the apprenticeship pilot program included in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and the agency's efforts to implement it in a timely manner.
However, the coalition expressed concerns with requirements submitted by FMCSA to the Office of Management and Budget in its emergency information collection request that will create unnecessary administrative burdens and inhibit participation in the program.
The comments contain two main proposed improvements:
- removing the registered apprenticeship requirement; and
- reducing the amount of monthly data employers must provide to FMCSA.
